Organized Chaos

People who meet me at work think I am extremely organized. I have files for everything, and systems to make sure I don’t miss anything. I’m even a little obsessive about some of my organization at work.

People who see me at home think I am extremely disorganized. My home is cluttered, and there is stuff almost everywhere. Once every few years I file all the papers that build up in piles and boxes.

How is it possible that I can be so organized in one area of my life, and disorganized in another? I’m not sure, but here I am.

Passion Planner

One organizational tool I have struggled with more or less my whole life is my calendar. I struggle to keep myself on track. I’ve tried several different agendas and day planners over the years. I even relied on my phone for a while.

I finally found a day planner that I love. When I remember to use it… which is admittedly intermittent. It’s the Passion Planner.

I don’t even use all the parts of it, like the goal planning and check in, so I’m not sure why I love it so much. However, I keep going back to it, year after year.

It doesn’t have moon phases in it, so I have a ritual of adding them in when I receive my new one. I chunk in my big events, and some of the recurring events. I use different colors for different types of events. Though I don’t put EVERYTHING I do in there, I take some comfort in knowing the main events are in there.

I keep a lot of things in my head. Unfortunately, that leads me to double booking myself from time to time. My Passion Planner helps me do that less often.

I’m working on building a habit of exercise. Perhaps the next habit I will tackle is being more diligent with using my planner…

Blessings,
Mary
