This weekend we celebrated the Autumn Equinox. I went to several different events, and marked the balance in vastly different ways.
Friday afternoon, I attended my local climate strike. People in my community, including students, gathered to demand changes to bring our existence back into balance. From banning single use plastics, to reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, to planting trees, when we gather together and pool our resources we are powerful. Little changes that each of us make DO make a difference.
Saturday afternoon, I performed a handfasting, joining two individuals in the bonds of marriage. Their love for each other was obvious, and beautiful, and it was an honor to witness and sanctify their union.
Following the wedding, I went to a cacao ceremony. After a cup of delicious hot cacao, we meditated to the beautiful music of the Sonic Temple, before working up a sweat dancing to the rhythms. We followed up the evening with a heart centered connection, releasing our “dirt” and putting out our intentions for the coming season.
Sunday afternoon was my Circle’s potluck and celebration. We gave thanks for ourselves, our community, and our future. Then we shared an AMAZING feast. I am so grateful for my spiritual community.
I’m also grateful for my health – I had a setback with my gall bladder this past week. I’m having to work a little harder to find balance with my health, my eating and exercise. It’s worth it, though.
I hope this Equinox brings you balance as well!
Blessings,
Mary
