Thursday, November 19th felt a lot like Thursday, March 12th. Can you say lockdown? This year has been hard on a lot of people, a lot of industries, and mine is no better.

March 12th – Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announces a lock down – all events cancelled for the foreseeable future.
I work at a live theatre. That weekend in March, we had four very busy shows. Not sold out, quite. It was one of our busiest weekends, followed by quite a number more events over then next several weeks. And everything came crashing to a halt. We were expecting the order, and we were really hoping it wouldn’t come until AFTER the weekend.
Fast forward several months. My coworkers and I have spent the past several months pivoting to be able to provide high quality live stream content. We put our safety plan in place to allow a limited audience of up to 50 people to watch a performance at the same time as it is live streamed.
And then…
November 19th – Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announces a lock down – all events cancelled until at least December 7th.
Three hybrid in person and live stream events, suddenly turned into live stream only. People panicking about what was going to happen to their tickets, staff frantically working to provide solutions. We were expecting the order, and we were hoping it wouldn’t come until AFTER the weekend.
It was kind of like Groundhog Day.
I’m grateful we didn’t have to cancel the events outright this time. And I’m extremely grateful I work with an amazing team who could take it all in stride. I mean, we might have done this before.
Please wear your mask. Wash your hands. Don’t go out if you don’t have to. I want to get back to live theatre.
Blessings,
Mary

Hosting after-climbing family dinners with the whole climbing crew again.
Great blog. What I miss the most are the spiritual wellness fairs. I am hoping we will get them back in 2021. My plans are to do what we can to best comply with all we need to do to help get our numbers back down and our lives open again to do the fairs, theatres, and all other get togethers. Blessings ??
