September is Back

It’s September, and that means everything is back on. Kids are back to school, in one form or another. After a few weeks with long weekends, I am back to work full time. And back to higher stress levels. Will we be back to quarantine? Stay tuned!

September is back

The break was good for me – I really needed those longer weekends, and I did get a few projects crossed off my list. I also played video games with my son and watched movies and relaxed. As much as I could relax with the stress of making plans for my boys schooling requirements…

I even stopped having sugar, though it has started to creep back in this past weekend – a sure sign that my stress levels are rising. I’m doing my best to keep the sugar to a minimum, but it is a struggle.

There are a whole bunch of events that are scheduled for this month that I am simultaneously excited for and dreading – meetings and classes and rituals, and even a handfasting!

I’m very excited to announce that I am working with Estuary Health & Wellness to present some workshops, and we will be working on creating some retreats for the future. The location is absolutely gorgeous, and their mission is totally in alignment for me.

I honestly have nothing to complain about – my life is amazing, and all of the things on my calendar are things I have chosen. And it is important to acknowledge that the collective trauma (the pandemic, the work towards social justice, the fires) hasn’t gone away. That is all still there, on top of the regular gearing up that September brings.

To keep my sanity, beyond my daily meditation practice, I am stretching my body, drinking lots of water, writing in my journal, and reading every day. I’m limiting how much sugar I consume, and how much time I spend on games each week (it’s a treat, not a need).

What are you doing to stay mentally healthy?

Blessings,
Mary
