When I read tarot for people, something that seems to come up quite a bit is the idea of passion or purpose. To me, the whole suit of wands is about passion, creative expression and how we act in the world. Then there are the major arcana that talk about similar themes…

When I start to talk about passion and purpose, a lot of people start to get a panicked look in their eyes, or a deer in the headlights kind of look. “I don’t know what my purpose is!”
I do my best to give some guidance, though honestly I could do a lot more in a coaching session than a quickie tarot reading at a market. I ask questions like, “what do you love to do?” Or, “if money were not an issue, what would you spend your time doing?” Or, ” what is something that you lose track of time when you are involved with it?”
Even so, fifteen minutes in a public setting isn’t really the environment to encourage deep, meaningful answers to questions, especially when they are sprung on you seemingly out of the blue!
Here’s the thing. Too many people think that their purpose has to be some grand, world changing vision. Why? Because that’s what all the motivational speakers ever have told us.
For some people, their purpose is to be a really supportive mother. The love of their family is all the renown they will ever see. Your passion could be rescuing cats, or baking pies, or walking in nature. Your purpose could be to spread joy by smiling at the people you meet. Or your passion could be to heal yourself by spending time in nature.
It doesn’t have to be hard. It doesn’t have to be grand. It can be simple, and easy. What’s important is that it is meaningful for YOU.
I’ve known my passion and purpose for a long time. (My mission is to help you uncover the Divine within yourself, to reconnect to your Soul’s wisdom, and to help you find the path that is right for YOU.) It’s not easy for me to see others struggle with theirs, because I want everyone to have the clarity I have. I don’t need to help thousands of people. I’m happy being a ripple in the pond that sets others in motion.
If you’re stuck trying to figure out your purpose in life, let’s talk. Coaching, or even a tarot reading, might help shed some light in the darkness. Or download Finding Your Purpose Guided Meditation, and see what your higher self has to share with you!
Blessings,
Mary
