Happy New Year!
I had some time off from work over the holidays, and I definitely needed a rest. I took some time to do nothing.
Well, almost nothing. I have a hard time doing nothing.
Since I couldn’t do nothing nothing, I opted to do something mostly unproductive. I had a little cross stitch and beading kit that I had received as a door prize somewhere some time in the past. I decided to make the little teddy bear pin.
I used to cross stitch when I was younger. It was something I shared with my mom, before I got into theater, and University. I forgot how much I enjoy it.
It was relaxing and satisfying. To see the colors and shape take form, to use my hands, and yet allow my mind to focus on other things (or not). So when it was done, and I had a chance to stop at Michaels, I picked up a couple more kits.
I’m only a little ways into my first new project, and I’m really enjoying it. In fact, it was very therapeutic as I grieved the loss of a dear friend this past weekend.
I’m hooked. Just what I need… another hobby.
Blessings,
Mary
