Adrenal Fatigue is a Real Thing

Last week I received a notice from the library that a book I had requested was available for pick up. It’s been a long time since I requested a book. So long I had no idea what it was that was waiting for me. It turns out it is very timely.

Adrenal FatigueWay back in November, when my husband was away and I was single-parenting on top of all of the rest of my responsibilities, I had a small breakdown. In trying to find out why I was having such a difficult time dealing with what was logically a small thing. My boys are old enough now to be a huge help, and yet I was experiencing anxiety and crying. A lot.

My friend’s mom, Kaimana Wolff, also known as Eva van Loon, had written a book many years ago called Thyroid Resurrection. I had ordered it some time before, when I found out I was experiencing hypothyroidism. I hadn’t read it yet, though. Around the time of the breakdown, though, something told me it was time to read it.

Between that book and my previous thyroid research, I knew that the thyroid was part of the endocrine system, and therefore connected to the adrenals. When one part of that system experiences a disruption, all the other parts are affected as well. In other words, adrenal fatigue and hypothyroid are connected.

So I started looking into adrenal fatigue, and realized that a lot of the symptoms described my experiences. And somewhere along my research, I requested the book Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome from the library.

Adrenal FatigueI just started reading it, and it fits. I’m tired, even after a good night’s sleep, more irritable than normal, and it takes me a really long time to recover from any added stress, among other symptoms.

To be fair, I’ve brought some of this on myself. I push myself really hard. And I don’t give myself enough down time.

I’m only a little ways into the book. I’m really looking forward to reading the recommendations on how to recover, and more importantly – feeling better!

If you feel any of these symptoms, I recommend learning about adrenal fatigue. It’s a real thing, and it affects more people than you think!

PS. There are only a couple more days to download all three fundamental guided meditations. The offer closes on Wednesday!
