Thanks, Technical Difficulties and New Projects

I want to thank those of you who were on the Grounding call I held last week. It was a huge learning curve for me, and I was really nervous about it. You helped me feel comfortable and at ease. Thank you.

I also want to apologize to those of you who tried to get on the call and couldn’t due to technical challenges. Now I know I will need to use a different service. I’ll be experimenting with some in the near future. Thank you for helping me discover the kinks in the system I was using!

I’m starting a course with some other coaches, led by an amazing coach and friend of mine to step up my volume – my action in my business. I am planning to crank out a lot of meditations over the summer, when I have some time off from work. I am also planning to create a group coaching series for some of you who may want to “test the waters” and see how life coaching can benefit you.

There. I said it. It’s in writing. Now I have to do it! 🙂

And I think it is also time to choose a new Goddess to work with. I’d like to choose a “lighter” Goddess. Please vote in the poll below!


PS. I’m raising money to help a friend take some training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). She plans to offer it in conjunction with her counseling in public mental health to those who would not otherwise be able to afford this very effective trauma treatment.

Meditation is Better than MorphineI came across an article this week that made me smile, and affirmed I am doing things that are very beneficial to my health.

According to the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center‘s website:

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – April 5, 2011 Meditation produces powerful pain-relieving effects in the brain, according to new research published in the April 6 edition of the Journal of Neuroscience.

“This is the first study to show that only a little over an hour of meditation training can dramatically reduce both the experience of pain and pain-related brain activation,” said Fadel Zeidan, Ph.D., lead author of the study and post-doctoral research fellow at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

“We found a big effect – about a 40 percent reduction in pain intensity and a 57 percent reduction in pain unpleasantness. Meditation produced a greater reduction in pain than even morphine or other pain-relieving drugs, which typically reduce pain ratings by about 25 percent.”

I often use meditation instead of, or in addition to, pain medication when I am having a rough day. And now medical science has proven its effectiveness! Yay!

Date Set for my First Teleseminar!

It has been almost three years since I registered the domain “”. I truly appreciate all of you who have joined me on this journey, and supported me as I have recorded my guided meditations old and new.

Those of you who have been with me for a while know that I have a tendency to procrastinate. Without a firm deadline, I will put things off, and put them off, and… You get the point. Well, I realized that the crown of procrastination has settled on my head once again.

I told you a month ago that I was planning a teleseminar about grounding. But I didn’t set a date. That was my mistake! I thought, “I’ll set a date once I have the material polished.” HA! I know better than that. I have to set myself the deadline, and then I will have the material ready for the deadline.

I’m taking the plunge, and setting a date!

Message from the Earth

I still haven’t managed to go sit in the woods. We are still battling illness in my house, so I have either been nursing my children, or myself!

Even though I haven’t sat outside to meditate yet, I make a point of grounding – connecting with the Earth – every day.

Bare feet GroundingOne morning, during my grounding I was feeling and expressing gratitude to the Earth for supporting me, and for being my battery. I recharge every morning by grounding, and at night grounding helps me relax. As I was feeling this deep gratitude, a message came to me:

You want to heal the Earth? GROUND!

Connect with the Earth. Put your bare feet and hands in the grass or the dirt or the sand, hug a tree, sit on the ground. Reach out and connect in some way EVERY DAY.

Just as a person cannot thrive without physical contact, neither can the Earth.

I received images of children in orphanages who are given minimal care who turn their faces to the wall and fade away; elderly in “care” homes who have no visitors slowly fading into the past.

The farther we move into our technological world of virtual realities, the more disconnected we become from the Earth and from the natural world. I know this, I see this, I feel this, and even I am not willing to give up my computer or my smartphone! 😀

Spiritual Grounding

Grounding has become a very important part of my daily (and  nightly!) meditation practice. Some of you may be familiar with the term, and others not.

Grounding is a common return path for current, or a direct connection with the Earth. This is true in spiritual terms as well as electrical terms. For electricity, grounding is done to prevent a build up of static or excess current.

Standing barefoot on the EarthYou probably know that everything is energy, including you. So it makes sense that what is a good idea for conducting electricity is a good idea for your energetic body.

There are quite a number of ways to ground your own energy.

The simplest is to stand barefoot on the ground. Grass or bare earth is preferable for this to cement or pavement. This provides you with a direct physical connection to the Earth, just like an electrical ground, so any excess or harmful energy can be sent back to the Earth. Some people use stones or crystals to create this connection with the Earth.

Another method of grounding is to visualize roots extending down into the Earth from your feet and your core, like a tree. See them extending deep down into the Earth, spreading wide and deep. Not only can you release any excess or harmful energy through your root system, you can also draw positive energy up into your body from the Earth, like a tree drawing up nutrients.

plug in to EarthMy current favorite method of grounding involves visualizing a cord extending down from my energetic center (around the level of my belly button, and directly in the center of my body from front to back). I see this cord extending down into the Earth, and I visualize it plugging directly in to the Earth’s core. Just as with the tree visualization above, I release any negative or excess energy into the Earth to be recycled, and draw positive healing energy up into my body. I take a moment at each of the seven chakras, feeling them activate and recharge. Then I extend the energy up through the top of my head, connecting to my Higher Self and Source energy. I become the direct connection between Heaven and Earth.

I find that after grounding, I am able to clear my mind much quicker and easier. My day goes more smoothly – I am not as easily irritated or frustrated. I also don’t tire as easily, since I can supplement my own energy with the abundant energy of the Earth. And at night, I fall asleep faster, too.
